We are going to try and be a little better about letting everyone know what we are up to. This has been our first week back after the break and here's what we've been working on.
Andrew
Working on the mobile update. Trying to figure out exactly what will be able to run well on mobile devices. If things go well, I hope to have this done soon and start the beta next week. If you want to be a part of the mobile beta testing, instructions on how to signup are posted at the end of this post.
Philip
Working on issues with the Steam release, most notably the black screen of death. It's easy enough to fix the issue by forcing the game to run with D3D 11, but this is not obvious without checking the troubleshooting guide we have posted on Steam and it's frustrating new players.
Nathan
Many Steam players complained about the joystick support, so we are gutting the old input control system and replacing it with a much more flexible one.
Kevin
Working on designing some new parts, mostly new gizmos. Once we figure out exactly which parts will make the next update, we will let you know.
Joey
Who's this guy? We just brought Joe onto the team to help out with design. He's going to help us with SimplePlanes for a while, and he's going to help us design and prototype our next game. We're not entirely sure what that is going to be yet, but while we're figuring that out we're going to be full steam ahead on SimplePlanes.
Signing up for the Beta (mobile only)
iOS - Holy cow, already over 700 signups. I will not be able to include nearly all of these on the beta. I will operate on first come first serve when including these signups into the beta.
Google Play - First join the beta group here. Then you can apply to become a tester here. Note: It may take a few hours before the play store updates.

@AndrewGarrison how can I tell if I've registered to be a beta tester? How can I tell if I'm able to play/use the beta?? Will you send emails to the beta testers if they've been signed up? If yes what's the email name that you'll be sending us?
@skyhigh222 like this
As it mentioned before - we do need possibility to change almost every parts characteristics in game, without going to text redactor and loading modified save to see what we done for every time. May be as some engineering sandbox mode separated from current. Your "simple" planes are awesome! Thanks for all your hard work.
This week I thought @Johawks1976
@AndrewGarrison also the team should make it so everything is customisable in a big update
@Tomscottster people upvote you

@AndrewGarrison you said the beta would be out early next week and I'm just making sure that you meant the week of Jan 10-16 right?
I think this has been answered at some point, but is there any way for me to get the game on my new phone (running google play) for free since I bought it on Amazon? I think the answer is no, but I want to make sure.
@AndrewGarrison do you have a play store beta release date?
What country do you live in?@gonny
