OPERATION ESKIMO - PHASE THREE
The invasion began with a 30 minute bombardment by the SWS Kraken. As the bombardment ended a Bridge-class landing ship headed for the beach, causing the Chaos troops to mass on the shore to meet it. However, at the last moment, the vessel turned away and the Dark Arrow strike aircraft that had been circling above dived down to attack the waiting enemy forces, killing them in their hundreds.
.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, the rest of the fleet was throwing everything it had at Commandoria. Then after two hours the carrier aircraft were given free rein, destroying everything in sight for 45 minutes. Finally the troops went ashore, charging in from the Bridge-class landing ships, smaller landing craft and the fleet's transport helicopters. 80 Arctic Armour main battle tanks and 20 Earthquake ALS light tanks were also unloaded onto the beach.
.
The fighting went on for three days. On day two the Brotherhood sent a suicidal torpedo boat loaded with explosives on a ramming attack on the fleet. The vessel headed for the Bridge-class landing ship SWS Privateer, but was destroyed before reaching its target by the Privateer's deck guns.
Peregrine air superiority fighters also saw action, striking the island's airfield, still behind enemy lines.
Warburg Army troops captured a small fishing village on the opposite side of the island, effectively cutting it in two. They were supported by four Arctic Armour tanks and six Osprey II strike fighters flying from Warburg Navy aircraft cruisers offshore.
.
Day three was by far the bloodiest, with heavy fighting around the last Chaos stronghold. However the largest loss of life came from a kamikaze attack on the fleet by three MiG-19s. They came under the radar, one being destroyed by CIWS fire from a Vengeance-class aircraft cruiser. The other two each struck a carrier. One, a Warburg vessel, lost 300 men and two squadrons of aircraft. The other, the SWS Repulse, lost 307 men and twenty aircraft, the rest being either in the air or deep below decks.
Three hours later the island was completely overrun, with the commander being captured alive.
.
He was taken to the SWS Chieftain, which had just joined the fleet, where he made his demands:
1. All Chaos prisoners would be allowed to commit "Rapture".
2. The bodies of Algorithm troops killed on Snowstone would be released to the Brotherhood for burial.
3. The island of Commandoria would be left uninhabited.
In return all Brotherhood of Chaos forces in on the island would surrender, then commit "Rapture".
.
After negotiations terms 1 and 2 were agreed on, and 3 was changed so that a single warship could be stationed off the coast of the island without fear of attack by the Brotherhood. At 11:00 the next day the surrender was signed. It is unknown how many Brotherhood units remain active elsewhere. At 11:15 Chaos commander committed suicide in his cell, with many of his soldiers following suit.
.
Two days later the allied fleet departed the island, leaving behind the SWS Endeavour to act as guard ship. A ceremonial dinner was held on board the SWS Chieftain, with representatives from all four allied countries and organisations. As Krakabola was neared the fleet exchanged gun salutes and all returned to their respective ports and harbours.
.
The Saltwater Carrier Nation has dedicated a force of 140 RSD.1 Nemesis scout attack drones to hunting down remaining Brotherhood of Chaos units.
