Trying to configure the railguns to pick off a target from halfway across a solar system is one thing, doing it to fire at a target across the archipelago is a challenge all on its own. You have to figure out the exact amount of power to direct into the rails so you don’t overshoot or undershoot your target. Normally we would just give it full power, but in this case we have to deal with high amounts of gravity. The target is some Chaos fort built into the side of a mountain, Captain Essen believes it to be some sort of observation post that was abandoned and then occupied by the Brotherhood of Chaos. Of course, the target is way out of visual range so we have to use a forward scout to mark the target. We thought it might be best to use the Trident fighters, but because they were quickly cobbled together, we don’t know if they will hold together properly. We might have to sacrifice one of the drones we got from the Saltwater Navy. This place is supposedly covered in point defense and the amount of machine gun positions makes it impossible to just assault it or bomb it. Shelling the thing with a massive fleet would do no good either, you would need to avoid the coastal batteries and you would need anti concrete shells. Thankfully the Deutschland has the equipment to bombard forts from great distances. The plan, use the Deutschland to destroy the ground defenses and then send a force to invade. It may be costly but what other choice do we have, and if we do it right, we may be able to give our troops access to CAS.
