Ex-employees of Warburg Technology declared themselves independent on Desperation Island on which they had been living since the collapse of the United States of Warburg and began firing on passing shipping that came too close. Unfortunately for them this island lay just 700 metres from the main island of NovrdLisch.

Ten Jaguar main battle tanks, twelve Earthquake ALS light tanks and eight Alligator armoured personnel carriers advanced along the bridge connecting the two islands whilst more forces were delivered to the island by parachuting from Spartan transports. They came under fire from positions high on the island and four Terminator-E attack helicopters took off to suppress the incoming fire. Four old Warburg tanks came into view and opened fire, disabling an Earthquake ALS. A Jaguar unleashed a HVAT missile, knocking out one enemy tank. The other three tanks were also quickly destroyed by the advancing forces.

After one and a half hours of heavy fighting resistance on Desperation Island collapsed. The rebels were rounded up and taken to NovrdLisch for trial. The island has been returned to Saltwater control and the facilities there demolished. The Jaguar main battle tank proved itself in battle for the first time, knocking out four tanks with no losses. One tank was hit by three armour-piercing rounds but suffered only minor damage to its tracks and turret.

Desperation Island is available for use by foreign companies for manufacturing and research. It was previously used by the United States of Warburg as a technology centre.
