Need dogfighting tips

Im using this build. Every time I enter a dogfight I can’t seem to get on target and the enemy out turns me somehow when we’re both flying the same plane. My usual strategy is to let the enemy get on my 6 using airbrakes to slow down and try to shoot him with my guns when he speeds past me, when ever I do this the enemy turns away immediately and I’ve only ever hit him once out of 20 or so dogfights using this tactic. I think Im just to close to him and that’s why I can’t got on target so I try to disengage and dive down to gain speed but he just gets on my six again and rinse and repeat. So any dogfighting experts out there could you give me some advice? I know some basic stuff from watching Youtubers like PhlyDaily though dogfighting in Warthunder and Sp are obviously different.

Try To Keep Your Energy And Momentum Up, That Can Help You Gain Advantage, Try To Turn A Slight Degree So That You Can Get A Closer Hit When At Loophole

@IStoleYourMeme just tested it in high physics, did a back flip when I took off, I see your point now

@IStoleYourMeme what physics setting are you playing on because on low physics it’s hard to get it to go into a flat spin though I do agree it’s not that manoeuvrable at low speeds. And for the weight thing, I needed a ton of fuel for the engines so I don’t really know how to make it lighter apart from removing the couple thousand pounds of dead weight in the front

I tried this out, both just flying the plane around as well as dogfighting until it ran out of fuel, and could only come up with criticisms of the plane design. Despite being similar in size to most "1940s era jet fighters", it has over twice the weight of its real life contemporaries. This makes your plane handle extremely poorly and is probably why you can't get your guns on target after the enemy overshoots. In addition, the plane is very unstable at low speeds. Without constant correction (unfortunately there is no trim either) it will easily tumble into a flat spin. I would suggest redesigning the plane and trying again, you will definitely have better luck.

@CruzerBlade or just fly low, they seem to love water

@randomusername that’s the issue though, I never fly modern builds with super manoeuvrability so I can’t do those manoeuvres
