Hello SimplePlanes community.
So I have been making a new GA aircraft (probably one of my best, because of scale), but I have a problem which really shouldn't happen according to actual flight physics.
When I apply full flap, the manoeuvrability in the pitch axis is degraded so it doesn't pitch as well as it does without flap. But even more confusing is the fact that the stalling speed actually increases which DEFINITELY shouldn't happen with full flap applied.
If someone could maybe fix this problem or tell me a solution, that would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the AIRCRAFT
@ND40X no problem buddy!
@Mustang51
ok, thank you so much :3
@ND40X it’s quite simple to do actually. I’ve been making custom controls on my latest builds and I just uploaded one today. You can take a look at how those are made or even use them if you’d like
@Mustang51
I guess, not entirely sure on how to do fake flaps though...
@ND40X sometimes it’s just for the best. Why don’t you just add fake ones?
@Mustang51
Ok, thanks for your help. (btw, I just removed the flaps altogether
@ND40X I would try to just add support struts and beams to outline where the glass is. You can also use a single block to cover the whole cockpit area so that you can see everything when in cockpit view mode. Other than that maybe try the XML modded pieces which are sort of transparent
@Mustang51 @Noname918181
Ok, thanks. Also, does anybody have a recommendation as to how I make it seem like there is a windshield (glass)? (I'm using the Diamond DA-42 for inspiration)
@ND40X so when I tested it out, the plane stalls between 75-80mph in both conditions. This however is still a problem as the flaps don’t do what they are meant to do. I tried moving the CoL closer to the front of the plane and reducing the weight but for some reason the exact same thing happens. What it could be is that the specific XML modded wings you have aren’t good flaps. I have a couple different ones in my sub assemblies and some work far better than others. It’s kind of a disappointing answer but that’s most likely the problem. It’s not very noticeable though and most people tend to land far from stall speed and only use that to flare (as much as you can actually flare in a small plane like this lol). They still make you pitch up more than you would be able to when flying slow so they do somewhat assist you in landing. I hope this helps! Also the plane looks great!
Distance between CoM and CoL are too far, add more wings on the front or decrease weight on the front, or vice versa
Edit: wait I didn't inspect properly, I'll try to experiment more
My theory above wrong lol
