Not too much to say here other than I have some new requests, after I release the Barbel class I'm going to take on the Mighty Oscar II, then likely modify it into the Belgorod while adding the deployable craft. The Barbel and November Class submarines are coming along quite well, one way or another I intend to release the November this month!
@MarshallLewisAerospace I normally boost speed by taking drag out of some of the hull parts, increasing the size of the propeller blades (scaling them down so they aren't ungodly huge), and carefully upping the speed of the rotators. All of which use xml though, meaning that's a bit of a tough conundrum for you. One thing you could do is try to increase the range of motion on the rotators which connect to the propeller blades, that might help you get better speed.
Glad I still have your approval! I’ll keep in mind moving the buoyancy parts closer to the ends of the hull. I’ll be adjusting trim as I add weapons anyways.
Do you have any advice for boosting speed? I’m currently using the engine from the Skipjack since I like the look of that one, but it’s a bit slow in terms of speed. My current solution has been to add another engine from the Delta 1 inside for a speed boost, but was wondering if you have any recommendations on that. I’ll make sure to tag you when I get the sub posted so you can see what I’ve done.
@MarshallLewisAerospace I'm perfectly cool with borrowing parts! The engine I use is directly based on the engine from this build after all. I do use gyro's sometimes though mainly to counteract any negative effects on the ballast function that adding custom torpedoes might cause. I also use the gyro on the ballast engine to counteract listing in turns as well.
.
Most of the stability of my submarines on the pitch side comes from the neutral buoyancy blocks. Two of them, with one near each end, adjusted to ensure they keep the sub level. I'm pleased to hear you're making progress!
Hello Mint, I have a question regarding submarine design. Do you use gyros to limit a sub’s possible pitch range? A design I’ve been working on has been pulling some rather crazy pitch angles in test dives. Though she can dive and surface without a ballast system installed, so I think I’ve got neutral buoyancy tuning figured out! The sub is gonna be something like 95% parts borrowed from something you’ve made though...
I’m also making a surface ship, which has parts borrowed from your submarines for propellers and main guns. (Specifically the Surcouf, a few tweaks in barrel shape and put in a different turret design, and they make for battleship caliber weapons that have recoil!)
(You still don’t mind that I’m borrowing parts, right? I’m kind of going all in at this point...)
@mintlynx
Its going to be so long
Till you realese the Typhoon
@BurkeEnterprise I'll do that one at some point, when I don't got a backlog of requests x) I'll probably put focus on doing requests after I've finished the 50's list before going onto the 60's list.
Ooh, you know what would be really cool? The Cyclops from subnautica!
@Jerba At some point I might.
You should make just a custom submarine not based off anything. Just for fun.
