Solution to Underwater Weapons Disappearing?

20.3k MAINE  5.0 years ago

I know this has been addressed in the past but, I was wondering if anyone has an answer to it. Can you make an XML edit to allow them not to disappear?

    @sheepsblood I've found that generating neutral buoyancy with precisely adjusted fuselage blocks (whether through xml modding or simply changing their size) is the best and most realistic way to replicate submarine function. I do that for all my subs! It allows for realistic pitch control through bowplanes, ballast control simulation through vertical engines, a method that overall more directly replicates the function of submarines!

    @MintLynx Yes, like blowing a ballast. I wish there was a way to make that buoyancy only turned on at the time of launch so it didn't affect my ability to dive. Of course if that was possible we wouldn't have to circumvent ways to dive and surface with our Submarine builds.

    @sheepsblood let's hope they actually see it though, cuz it would be very useful if added

    @sheepsblood I can say that a gun engine will work well underwater, since they're my primary method of getting SLBM's out of the water for submerged launching. Also I get the sense that your detatcher method is an attempt to replicate 'blowing ballast'.

    @MintLynx Thanks. I am working on ideas now. Kinda a mix of a gun engine, you know when someone uses a fuselage mixed with a gun which causes the gun to be used as an engine. (possibly) Also, to reach the surface quickly, a detacher set to 20,000 and setting buoyancy to 10 on the bottom fuselage of the weapon.

    What would be nice is when you created something that you could save it as a component like they have as a feature in Google Sketch-up. That way the parts can't be accidentally removed.

    @sheepsblood Check on my profile! Down at the bottom are links to a few different weapons that could be of use for you.

    @MintLynx Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. At least I have something I can work with now.

    @Axartar I'll give that a try then!

    Hyper magnets (tm) are pretty amazing with health of the part increased high. @MintLynx

    @Axartar Rockets can! That's why I use them as the base for many of my Sub based weaponry. I've found that rockets are unaffected by the water, they don't disappear or even slow down. That said, I'm now curious how much damage a hyper magnet could do on its own.

    sadly, no weapons except guns can pass below -55ft I think and guns cant damage stuff below this depth. I made a few meh subs, weapons could be made by hyper-powerful magnets and mini remote sub things. magnets too powerful destroy, everything and with 2+ magnets can be remotely detonated semi-successfully

    I have my own solutions to this issue, and they generally involve making custom weapons. Using Rockets as a base for torpedoes and missiles, putting bombs on modded pistons that can be lowered while at shallow depths. Making it to where bombs and torpedoes don't disappear underwater would be great nonetheless! I'm sure it's possible, given Rockets are already unaffected by the water,

    I made a user voice about them adding something like that. You can vote for it to increase their chances of seeing it. I dont have a link for that on hand though.... should just be a few pages back if you sort by new
