Sooo... still working on my truck and crane......
And yeah I'm having problems with the pistons and Idk why.
On my first crane The pistons had a mass of 1
Here the pieces of the crane are smaller, lighter and the damn thing still bends like crazy, especially under a load.
The thing is that I have tried increasing the mass (by a lot, which still wouldn't fix it) and I have tried the diffuseInertiaTensors thing but that just makes things worse tbh.
And whilst making the mass of the pistons something crazy like 1000 might work, I cant have that! I need the crane to be within a weight limit, and more weight would also make things worse since the crane is mostly on one side of the truck...
I have multiple pistons for each section, 5 to be exact, different scales and multiple connections, this is so annoying.
So yeah.... I really need help with this.
Maybe its time to add something that can fix wobble, something other than diffuseInertiaTensors
The pistons are like this, these things connect each boom section, I have also tested nudging them to the position they will be in when finished but it still wobbles.
@SnoWFLakE0s So I think I found a fix, it was pretty easy. Well kinda. It does require the really a noting things I did before. But in the end you just have 1 piston that extends as far as all of the others combined and just as fast. And that should keep everything steady whilst still keeping them in the right order etc. Bur right now I'm adding the pistons on the outside that are like details. Although I guess they work too.
@Davidzhang2671 thank you :)
@Minecraftpoweer ill try,btw ur villager cannon is so cool
@Davidzhang2671 it's a tag. If you cant find jt just put on some random tag, edit the tags and remove the first and add question
@Minecraftpoweer btw how can i use 4 heli motors to achieve equilibrium
my craft just cant stop spinning
questions
@Minecraftpoweer this thing we are chatting in
@Davidzhang2671 what things?
BIGGEST QUESTION OF ALL TIME
how do i post these things on the forum?

@SnoWFLakE0s uuuuugh clicky after a lot of work I finished the custom sections
@SnoWFLakE0s Well I guess that if anything this should just give me an upper hand. I havent seen any crane like this on the site before and If I manage to fix the problem, and others dont, I guess that's a win for me.
@Minecraftpoweer
.
I guess so. Well, that's the problem with complicated builds in general :P
@SnoWFLakE0s I guess the next thing to try is making it hollow with a hollow collision box. I first used fuselage inlets because it would allow me to angle and I thought it would work like my last crane did, but physics said no. So I thought that maybe I need to use normal fuselage blocks, so with some simple math I made the pieces but with fuselage blocks and the angles on them exactly the same size even though they get smaller with each.
Didnt work.
So later I guess I'll have to make it actually hollow and and then each piece should support the other better. But that's a lot of extra work considering I have spent hours rebuilding the crane over and over...
@SnoWFLakE0s it will have that, but in the end, it most likely wont add a lot of structural support so I planned to add that once everything else on the crane was done before I collapsed it to the standard lenght. But I have tried adding 2 extra pistons on every section and it didnt work, I have tried adding multiple connections, side connections and nothing works.
@Minecraftpoweer
.
Try using torque to your advantage. Instead of bundling pistons close together like that, how 'bout a piston thing on top? Like this.
@SnoWFLakE0s idk either I was just tired af..... and each segment already uses 5 pistons... the screenshot is 5 bundled together and each segment has that
@Minecraftpoweer
.
IDK where you got that, lol. I just meant bundle multiple pistons together to make the arm stronger. Your flat piece method might work as well.
@SnoWFLakE0s idk what you mean by multipurpose piston. And I was thinking that if this wouldnt work I would add a very flat "floor" to each segment with collision and hopefully that would help without messing it up
@Minecraftpoweer
.
Add some sort of mechanical support beam or use multiple pistons for each segment.
@asteroidbook345 what shaft coming out of the casing? if you're referring to the picture thats not what it looks like when its done, it looks more like the finished crane I made, this is just what it looks like when you build it. But I have tested with nudging it to how it would be when finished.
.
Its just a very annoying issue with the physics
@asteroidbook345 I looked inside it and it works the same way but with 1 piston on each thing instead of 5, and 1 will not work for this thing.
@asteroidbook345 Hmm lets see the tag mmmkay this one seems to be rated pretty high... ooh lets check out the users profile huh... it's me.... and I did everything I did on that crane and more on this one and it doesn't work.
@asteroidbook345 I have already said making them heavier didn't fix it, and making the pieces of boom 0 mass wont help either since the pistons will still be lifting something heavy, pistons will lift the other pistons and in the end they'll all be taking a load of whatever is hooked on.
