Propeller engines in SP are sluggish as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu dge

234k jamesPLANESii  4.7 years ago

Yo it takes like over 6 seconds for propeller engines to get to maximum power. That’s absolutely ridiculous. In real life, most GA planes take 1 second max.
In fact, the propeller engines are so slow in SP that they’re dangerous, especially in STOL situations where quick blips of power are crucial. Also, if you’re going kinda slow and want to go around, well, you’re dead basically.

The spool up times for prop engines are so slow that they match spool up times of WWII jet engines. It’s stupid.

Please change this, or at least make the spool up times adjustable!

i was playing sp and making some props planes, and the key is 'scale'.HorsePower only affected by scale, because the more it big, the more speed you gain. So,stop complaining and gives 'em support

IMO SP needs a overhaul with it's powerplants (no pun intended), and make them like SR2 where they are completely customizable.

Prop spool up is too slow, jet spool up is too fast

It doesn’t increase the spool up speed @asteroidbook345 @Chancey21

You can set high HP and low input by different multiples of 10 to get the same top speed and power but more acceleration @jamesPLANESii @asteroidbook345

There’s no input for props @asteroidbook345

You can’t adjust the spool up time using XML @freedompilot98

Im not sure how you would be able to make it spool faster but there's a way if you will find it usefull to alter the spool up time of a jet engine instead, go into inputController and see max, set the numbers to: 0.25, then find engine power multiplier thing and raise that up to 4 or more, this way the engine spool really quick (even faster at 0.125 and 8) and it uses less fuel

And also car engines, it would be cool to choose the time it takes to go 0-100kmh / 0-60mph

They need to be fined for the dangerous props

Not hate towards the busy devs or the question in general, but it took something like a year just for them to increase the maximum size of fuselage blocks from 5 to 10, doubt they'd get around for something like tweaking the engines in a decent time, especially now.

Okay, so a prop at 200hp with low spool up time should look like this:

    Fixed Pitch
    neutral pitch : 60 - 70%
    Pitch range : 100%

Though the rate of acceleration isnt good, it doesnt have a spool up time

It’s a Cessna 180, it has an empty weight of 1535 lbs, a max takeoff weight of 2800 lbs, and at max takeoff weight it’s rate of climb is 1090ft/min. And yes it’s a T1000. I’ve set it to +40% fixed pitch. @Adityo0502

@jamesPLANESii How much does the plane weigh? and is it a T1000?
