It would be cool to see an array of selectable sounds for the Cannon we have in game right now, as the default doesn't sound very.... impressive, to say the least.
The settings could either be accessible through the in-game menu or through Overload. Let's say we split them into 4 different levels:
Small - would be used for aircraft or other smaller cannons (20mm-30mm)
Medium - would be used for larger auto-cannons or tank guns (50-75mm)
Large - would be used for tank cannons or small ship guns (100-140mm)
Huge - would be used for big ship cannons (200-400mm)
I have some sound files here to give you a general idea of how poweful they should sound.
Note: The sound files above were not created by me and as far as I'm aware belong to Gaijin entertainment.
@unCANNY I'm not sure they check the thread often? IDK, I'm out of the loop by some years and just getting back into the game
@MatthewCoolman Well I was hoping for this to get picked up by devs and implemented into the base game.
@unCANNY lovely- but I don't know about you, I can't mod.
@MatthewCoolman That's precisely the idea actually :D
@unCANNY my suggestion would be similar to this where each sound file would be used for a different area in cannon size, something like this:
0-49mm: small
50-99mm: medium
100-199mm: large
200mm+: huge
the reason the larger sized guns cover more area is because deeper sounds can be scaled to lower pitches while still sounding somewhat normal.
@AndrewGarrison
@CruzerBlade Yeah that could work too, but again, it should sound like an actual cannon rather than a simple thud.
How about the sound gradually changes as you modify the gun size and caliber
@Zippy6 True, but it still sounds more like a thud than an actual weapon firing.
I second this, the current sound effect is lame.
You can just change the volume of the cannons. When you change the volume it slightly changes the sound of the cannon.
The sound of the bomb may be good
@TheMachinist The original sound file is from a 15cm cannon. Also it's just an example of how chomnky it should sound, not saying use that specific sound, since it's technically copyrighted anyway.

There's a SFX collection on Unity Asset store with MG151/ Hispano 20mm and NS-23 autocannon sounds. I'm sure it's possible to find more, larger caliber ones.
