Hi, everyone.
On this day, I reached 800 hours of playing SimplePlanes.
And of course, I need something befit of a 800-hour player.
For a long time, I've been too lazy to make full two-tone liveries. Not anymore.
With the simplistic design of this Folke-Wulf, I am finally able to make full two-tone livery possible.
I tried spotted textures near the boarderline, but after some research, it seems that this "zigzag" ish camouflage fits Luftwaffe better.
And now, the main thing.
Notice the big dial on the lower right (with two white lines that looks like a X).
That's the AFN2 radio homing/navigation device.
The real thing looks like this:
Here's how it works:
it works with an automatic radio direction finder (ARDF) that receives radio and determines the direction it came from.
The vertical hand indicates your deviation from the direction of the radio signal, while the horizontal one indicates your distance from signal source.
In the SimplePlanes version, I set up three "radio stations": Wright, Yeager, and Avalanche.
The best part is, unlike the Lorenz Beam I made last time, it is fully automatic. it will automatically "switch channel" to the closest station. (well, actually, it switches according to your latitude.)
Other functions I have implemented on the plane includes:
1.MW50 injection (top right small gauge)
2.ambient temperature (far left small gauge, changes according to latitude and your current altitude)
And I plan to further introduce:
1. ammo counter
2. ejection seat (fully automatic, from eject to parachute)
3. 2-stage 2-speed turbosupercharger (IRL there is a gearbox in the supercharger, it would change the speed according to altitude, effectively "get into 2nd gear" when you reach a certain altitude. For this reason, some German pilots would deliberately fight American P-51 Mustangs near their shifting altitude to hinder the Mustang's throttle adjustment).
Now, finally:
Please find this bad boy a name.
I really don't want to call it "Folke Wulf Drawing Number 0310/025-1006"
For now I'm gonna call it "Folke Wulf GmeN-1"
GmeN stands for "Gib mir eine Name" ("give me a name")
@vcharng I have made a new forum with names if you wanna check it
On another note, Folke Wulf seems to prefer using bird names.
Fw 189 "Eule" (Owl), Fw 190 "Würger" (Shrike), and so on.
@TrislandianAlliance I think it's "Zerstörer". German don't have double dotted E.
Zerstörer is German name for heavy fighter so it can't be used to call a single model of planes. Others are worth referencing. Thank you.
Schlitz, Zërstorer, Preußen/Preussen, Seydlitz, Lutzow, check my list of names for creation, its ever expanding like the deep space
