Have you ever spent ages building a complex vehicle, with an amazing level of detail however when you fly it or shoot the guns you get the low quality SP sounds? It’s awful but as everything else progresses in SP its about time that custom sound effects were added.
How it would work
There would be a sound part that could be loaded with a sound preset and an input, activation group e.t.c
A library of sorts would be available on the websites where people could publish sound files to use but they could be moderated to prevent inappropriate stuff
The sound files could be saved almost like a sub assembly so you could delete unwanted ones, and from there use them in the sound part.
Hopefully a dev is will see this, the default sounds are really outdated and annoying.
If this was added maybe people will make anime models and add custom sounds into it or heck maybe Corn out of it

Moderating would be much harder, but it would be worthwhile.

Changing the sounds of specific parts could be added to a separate menu like how there’s the ‘input controller’ for most parts, however a sound part on its own could accommodate for many sounds that aren’t specific to engines, pistons e.t.c such as shell reloading sounds for cannons and alarms for planes
I guess or I would prefer an XML attribute to add to thinks like magnets, engines or guns. Idk something like Pitch and Volume. but that might break because pitch is an input. but this should allow for a fair few types of sounds like magnets sounding like a gong or pistons become strings. it'd be funny and add a lot of sound abilities, and some basic. I believe that your doing this wrong bc that would require making new sound blocks which just seem very, very out of place here.

one last addition, maybe give the velocity (sustain) of a sound file an attribute because especially if you make something like a railgun not have the generic bullet sound. Mostly because its annoying when one shots been fired for a bit and the sound is still going.

I propose 3 xml attributes instead. Pitch (or tone or something similar), Volume (loudness etc) and Sustain (velocity, attack, SLength)

I like this. Maybe another part could be added to this to make noises. It could be used to make horns, beeps, etc. There could be a wide selection of prefabs in the game and an area on the website to download them. Some sounds could have their pitch, dynamic, and duration changed with overload.Meaning people could make full songs in SP with these parts.

I literally requested this a LONG time ago and got like no attention. I obviously like the idea, but I don’t think it will happen. It might though.

maybe we could use something similar to what From the Depths uses, which allows people to add parts that use videos, usually from youtube.
