The SimplePlanes site is for showcasing your builds for other people to use and to help you with. However the current point system encourages a quantity-over-quality method of making vehicles, focused on presentation not function. ‘Meme’ vehicles get more attention than devoted builds that take weeks or months of effort.
I think the points system should be like reviews - people rate your build and the overall ratings of all your creations represent your skill as a user. Time spent on the site shouldn’t be a factor in your recognition on simpleplanes, rather your ability. There are so many gold, silver and bronze users who’s builds will never get seen because a platinum user is guranteed to recieve more points, downloads e.t.c even if theirs is not of the same quality.
Something like this could even be used alongside points. Just an idea.
@SnoWFLakE0s
I think that's because they just don't know how. Plus, that isn't all bronze users. Uhmm Uhmm!!
@1gecko
You describe my life perfectly. Life is sh*t. 😥
To right
This post needs updating
jk
The only thing I care is feedback and making builds that function properly.
@Bob9998 Or maybe, just maybe. Don't care about points? whole point of the game is to build, if you enjoy building- build! it's not a job and the fact that people expect to get something in return is crazy.
@Bob9998 and?
.
the rick tag is literally made for that purpose. Get over with it
@Bob9998 you're just salty that meme builds get more attention than your builds
ehhh when i joined there was a five star rating system that'd end up with a rating showing up on your profile and uh, lets just say some people abused it, even back when you could count how many users were on the site there was things like vote bombing where you'd get a bunch of people to give a craft or user a 1 star rating, its a good idea but people would abuse it to death today
I agree and I am so trash at building anyways I have a fixed mindset and I always give up after a few minutes of working and like I want to build robots but making them walk is so god damn hard so I give up
I hate life :c
And I always lose in everything and I am that fat kid at school who thinks he is funny but I only have 1 true friend...
My life is terrible :c
Generally speaking the majority of plats post good stuff. Sure, there are a few outliers, but they pretty rarely get good numbers.
inb4 review bombing a user with 1 star ratings
.
is this a game forum or Yelp review page
It’s actually really balanced and fair tbh, I fail to see the unbalance and unfair stuff I see complaints on
(Not to mention this is again a game for personal enjoyment of building planes and not solely for gathering internet points that mean nothing)
@Bob9998 that’s not entirely true, I’ve seen platinum users get less than 20 upvotes on something while the bronze user builds get 50+
I don’t think that would change much
And I can can confirm that bronze and gold users do in fact have posts with more upvotes than the average platinum builder gets
I 100% get what you are on about but personally i feel like it is easier for a bronze user to get noticed. yes they don't have a pre-existing fan base but if they make a really good quality build then its blows up. Seeing something truly good from a user with less experience brings attention.
No
YES.
I just snapped over the same issue and everyone was like "F-U go home"
Well that's exactly what I'm doing, I'm not going to work for upvotes anymore unless it becomes more or less fair.
A 5 star score system would be better but not necessarily solve the problem.
I think the real once-and-for-all solution is to not have this silver-gold-plat hierarchy.
You get upvote or score, and it stops there. No one deserve having a price-tag attached to their name.
@Bob9998

Weird. My first "serious" build- one I built when I was not very well known, at bronze, was awarded with 50+ upvotes. Bronze users- more accurately, newer users- tend to lack apt building technique, which prevents them from making the quality builds that most (but not all) platinum builders do.
