I’ve been thinking about good ways to come back to the community. I tend to leave for a while and come back with a few builds, but this one has been the longest. I figure it’s only fitting then that my next comeback is done in a fittingly large way.
My thought was, maybe I should build another ship. My options I’ve been considering we’re either the “Precious Gem” from the movie Fools Gold, or the Esso Northumbria.
I’m honestly surprised that nobody has made it yet. For a bit of history, Esso Northumbria and her sister Esso Hibernia were built around the Suez Crisis in the late 60s. They were the largest ships built by England as of their time and were essentially just scaled up versions of smaller ships. Needless to say, this had made the frame inherently weak, since it’s structure was built with smaller designs in mind. They were built to carry large amounts of crude oil out of the Suez Canal. While they only operated for a few years due to cracks forming in the hull due to design, they were revolutionary designs for their time, and just the look of them is incredible to me. They were later disassembled due to those same structural issues.

Anyways, point is, which ship should I make. Northumbria or Precious Gem?
