I took a few screenshots of part textures that usually are not seen unless looking close.

I suspect these are for the other colors not used in the part at the time, the parachute seems to be proven correct with that, when I recolor it, the colors disappear from the square and appear on the main texture. There are probably more of them for other parts, but these are the ones I could find.
