I’m making a tank, and I was thinking that maybe I should use tank steering, but the only way to fully get that is but controlling each side of the tank with VTOL and Trim. Is this ok? Terrible? Most of my tanks before have been on regular car steering with steering being like a car, but I thought I might give this a try. What do you think?
Yeah, I’ve thought over that too. I figure I’ll try a couple methods and see which one I like best. Thanks so much! @IssaIwan
Yeah, I’ll do that. It’s seems like a good skill to have @F104Deathtrap
Yeah, thanks again! @WarshipDude
I had a similar problem when making my M2 artillery, but I used the roll and yaw rather than the trim and VTOL. Roll left would turn the right tread forward, and yaw left would turn the left tread backwards, both and vice versa. Having both joysticks towards each other caused the tank to move forward and so on.
@Elicushman Try digging around on google for how-to's , lists and info on funkytrees. If that fails you can always ask around on the Simpleplanes discord for help.
@Elicushman i know it is because i also have a modern tank with the same turning system
Actually, never mind. I tried it and it worked wonderfully! Thanks so much for the help! @WarshipDude
If I knew how, I feel that would be the best option. @F104Deathtrap
Yeah, I never really thought in that! Only issue I see with it is that any tires not powered to Move together make the tire squealing noise. I can work with it, but it’s annoying @WarshipDude
Ok, thanks. Mine was behaving similarly @QuantausAviation
You can use funky trees to make normal control inputs result in tank-like steering.
Normal car control, except turning will use another engine input roll, just reverse (or whever the name is) the left or right turning wheel depending on which side does it goes, say you hook 4 wheel to the engine that turn the tank, the left one, make the reverse to normal
would not reccomend as i am also making a tank, the thing will constantly turn to one side, as you have 2 inputs for 2 sets of wheels
