I was trying to recreate this effect in SimplePlanes without mods so I came up with this:
for reference, here's how it looks IRL
I find it pretty cool, but other people might find it... annoying?
what do you think of this "effect"

@vohai2003 Thank you! I was searching everywhere for this!
@vohai2003 still not a pure white
It's actually quite easy to fix. To achieve (almost perfect) white, the color code for smoke is A0FFFFFF.
@Ryn176 honestly. I don't know it's just something I do
@MrShenanigans why are you commenting in a year old post
You could use @WIZARD2017's smoke generator and use Funkey Trees code GForce>3
@Chancey21 I originally tried, but I wanted to use funky trees just so that they wouldn't activate every time you pitch up.
and... they don't have "input" or PowerMultiplier
Ok. I messed around with it for an hour. VTOL nozzle colors are totally borked. White makes it pink, blue makes it turquoise, and red made it disappear completely! I am so sorry I could not help.
Use VTOL RCNs for this
@Ryn176 There should be two separate color settings that fade into each other. I only have SP on PC and I can't verify. But I will mess around with it and if I can get white or grey I'll upload and link it to you.
@F104Deathtrap I tested all jet engines and set their exhaust color to white, and it looks like the biggest engine in-game produced this purest white, but... we all know how much that engine guzzles up fuel. So I think I'll just stick to the current one.
@Ryn176 That's weird. I guess you should give one of the regular jets a try, though avoid the turbofans of course.
@F104Deathtrap results were disappointing, i tried light grey, dark grey, blue light grey, dark blue gray, white, gray and all of them had the same problem
@F104Deathtrap that's what i'm saying
@Ryn176 Yeah, try grey. VTOL was the only engine I could use to make blue, everything else turned blue to green. Maybe set the color picker to blue and then wash-out (desaturate) it all the way to grey?
@exosuit That's generally the case for jet exhaust, usually best to scale evenly as best you can.
@F104Deathtrap i tried white, but whenever it activates, there's a little pink near the nozzle.
haven't tried grey though
oh and thanks for the info and feedback
problem with VTOL nozzles is that they have pretty funky exhaust scale that ends up making the vortex look wide instead of long when the plane is pointing at either 90 or 270 degrees unless you make the numbers even across all three axis
@Ryn176 VTOL nozzles are the gold-standard for special effects. They're the only engines in the game that allow you to use any color you want, all the others either have an unwanted orange color tint or other stuff that can't be changed.
As for the effect on this plane, I'd change the color to white or light grey. The RL effect is a turbulent vortex formed by the leading edge root extensions on the wing, basically it stirs up the air flowing over the wing to create more lift. You'll see a similar effect on F-18's and any other jet with root extensions or "dog tooth" leading edges (F-4, F-15, etc.)
@Stickman ah alright. thanks for clarifying lol.
bur you get my idea by what it's supposed to look like
@soundwave I originally used RCNs but they don't seem to have an 'Input', so I used VTOL Nozzles instead
Looks alright, i assume you used engines with blue flames, maybe change their colour to white, also true using modded RCNs
@Stickman wait, it's DCS?
Edit: I believe the middlee picture is from Lockheed Martin (meaning it's probably real), It's Bahrain's F-16 Block 70
@Stickman Https link?
@Defalt1 ey thank you
