There was a big update to add a whole load of new content a few months back. These things include: a whole new island (the old one is still there, though, and you can fly between them); several new engines and cockpits; customisable propeller engines; the new fuselage parts. I've probably missed some, but I'll go through that stuff quickly.
New island: exactly what it sounds like, there is new landscape to explore. It includes some fun features like bridges, hangars, and a bunch of narrow valleys to navigate. You should have locations available like Murphy Airport and Bandit Airport. To get from the old island to the new one, take off from the south runway and turn a little bit right, so you fly over the carrier, you should get to the island that way.
New engines: I'll cover prop engines in another section, so all I'll mention here is the BFE120. It's now the biggest and most powerful engine, essentially just a beefed up version of the old large jet engine, which is now the J90. All of the other jet engines are the same as before, they just have new names.
New prop engines: prop engines got a massive update. There's now three types, of different sizes, but you can now adjust the size, number of blades, power and so on. High-performance prop aircraft are way more viable now.
New cockpits: you can now pick from a variety of styles of cockpits. They're all functionally the same, it's just an appearance thing. Cockpits now have an options menu which lets you set that cockpit to be the primary one. Any non-primary cockpits are just decorative.
Fuselage parts: these are intended to supersede the old blocks as the main way of building your plane's structure. I highly recommend you get familiar with them, they're exceedingly versatile. They can hold fuel and provide buoyancy if you like, so they can also replace floating blocks and fuel tanks.
