@ChrisChrisThePy I took 8th grade US history, yes. The origin of a symbol does not really matter if we are looking at how a symbol can be used or appropriated in a political manner. Symbols have different meanings to different groups of people within different realms of political discourse.
.
I argued that here it was being used neutrally, but based on the context provided on the license plate, I was probably incorrect.
.
EDIT: Lmao yeah the plate is definitely political
Uh is that a 2045 Trump thing? Mmmmm, don’t know how I feel about that bud. I would only vote for the better of two evils not bc I like him, just saying.@SavageMan
The don’t tread on me was a colonial flag dum dums. It never did or does have any political influence, today it is mostly a pseudo-military flag @SavageMan @spefyjerbf @jamesPLANESii
@jamesPLANESii @SavageMan While the “don’t tread on me” flag has been recently associated with a certain US political party, I wouldn’t say that the flag itself is very controversial or political.
.
However, if there is any rhetoric attached to the flag, then it would be political. And yes, such rhetoric can include applauding the actions of certain people who have put the flag on their trucks, and have driven them to various cities to make a very political statement. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you can disregard this part of my comment.
