I came across an XML guide:
https://www.simpleplanes.com/Forums/View/686553/New-XML-properties
In the xml file, there's a value called "damage". Does anyone know what the default value is?
What's the default value of "impactForce"? What's the difference between damage and impactForce?
If I wanted to model real guns (like WW2 fighter guns or the modern Vulcan cannon), any idea what damage and impactForce I should use?
What unit is the impact force in, foot-pounds or joules?
@rexzion
@rexrexThezion I didn't know it did that. Thanks for the tip!
@Oxcart no thats dumb, the attribute will disappear if it's the default value
so when you set damage to 30 it will disappear because that is the default value
@rexrexThezion Thanks for doing this research! So you just fired a bunch of modded guns along with the default gun and saw which modded gun did the same amount of damage to a target?
@Oxcart no I just straight up put numbers into the damage attribute til I got the right one
@rexrexThezion Thanks! Just curious, where did you get these numbers from? Are all the default values published somewhere?
Thanks to everyone for the info!
Impact force would be how hard the round is impacting an object, while damage is what is the result of this impact.
the stock gun has 30
damage
and 10impactForce
So, if you want to use XML cannons, you have to enable overload. Do this by going to mods > enable overload.
I dont know the default value of damage and impactForce as they are not in the weapons
