Vibrating Wheels.

8,689 JCTECHNOLOGIES  4.2 years ago

Is there any way to stop your wheels from vibrating because your vehicle in too heavy, to give you some context, I am building a tank and I would like my Tank to be able to climb up anything so I gave it a very strong engine, which is 600 horsepower. the tank now has High acceleration so as soon as you accelerate the tank flips. So I fixed it by adding more weight to the wheels by putting a heavy fuselage block which is 0.25x0.25x0.25 and gave them all 1000lbs dead weight and setting mass to 10. This fixed the flipping tank problem but now the tracks vibrate. How to fix the vibration?

It may be 4.2 years since this got posted but I can help if u still play simpleplanes. If your tank weighs about 15 tons you can set the engine to 600HP, wheels that are attached to the engine have something called "maxAngularVelocity" in the inputs, normally it's set to 300 but if you want to give your tank a top speed of like 60-70km/h or 45mph you have to set the maxAngularVelocity to a number between 25-45. I have a 14 ton tank and it's max speed is 61km/h because the maxAngularVelocity is set to 30

Introducing: the Unretractable Landing Gear, make it microscopic (0.05,0.05,0.05) and nudge it into the wheel, don't forget to turn off collission

add mass to the tires, or relocate them as sometimes the placement relative to the center of mass can affect this (if theyre further out, theres a higher chance this will occur)

@WiiWiiTheMini my wheel suspension is already on auto (default) so It is probably a bug that I encountered

@Woutors Check your tires for suspension as custom, change it to auto, and that should be enough

@JCCNtechnologies I got your issue. you have suspension enabled as custom. Change that to auto suspension and that fixes it

@Embo nah I tried that and the reason why it wouldn't work makes alot of sense.

@FLOWRIDER0 OK Thanks! Is it lower max angular velocity?

Remove the extra weight and lower the max velocity of the wheels in overload

So far as I know there isn't a solution to this issue. I have the same thing with custom landing gear for my planes.
