Is it possible to make a simple working physics model of a sailboat? I randomly realized I can sail them irl without understanding them well... I want to understand physics better

@Chancey21 Yeah same. I think if I up the drag on the sail and disable it on the hull it could work. The wind tends to affect everything equally.
That what I was thinking. I have sailed some in the past (small sailboats) and I couldn’t make a working one in SP @AsteroidAsteroidTheBook
I actually sail and the "functional" sailboats in this game don't really work the way a real sailboat does.
I guess the only potentially confusing thing with sail boats is how you ho faster than the wind, and this video explains it really well. Other than that, the basics are that you need a keel so that your boat has minimum drifting in the water, and a sail, made from a wing, which is angled so the relative wind is always pushing the boat along.
There's a thing that someone said where if you can't explain it then you don't understand it, but I completely understand the physics and can't explain it lol. Or, well, I can but I dunno where to start. I'll draw a diagram hold on
or... just send a video ;p
Yes
Oh yeah I should make an americas cup yacht
If I can sort it out... that would be fun. I’d have to make strict rules about wind usage if we had a race @rexzion
sail boat mp event??!!!!!/?
Yeah wind settings work with fuselage sail.
