Yo guys, nothing interesting here
I just wanted to know if yes or no you care about upvotes and why ? (don't just answer "yes" it would be useless).
Let me say what I think about upvotes, first I think that this "score" system is pretty weird, especially from my point of view because scoring things in a video game about sharing (and not showing how skilled we are) is for me pretty dumb. Also the upvote system is kind of broken, even if I don't really like to put things in a ranking I can still see that sometimes you guys upvote more or less a build just for what it is and not the build quality in it self (I'm pretty sure we all have exemples in mind, maybe even who of you reading this feel like his build got underated). And last but not less down side of this is the points that you get from upvotes and this stupid "gold" "silver" platinium" system, because some builder really get cocky and way too much confident about their skills (and sometimes they haven't any skill, sorry).
But it's not all black, the good side of upvotes is for me visibility, knowing that people will see your build is kind of reassuring, that's also why I prefer spotlights to upvotes (and I like even more comments of course, because a upvote does not tell me what you guys actually think about one of my builds).
Me, Me.
Produced by Me. (Can't wait too see your opinion about this :) )
And yes, there was a time where I did care wayyy too much about points, upvotes and all this stuff. Now I just think about sharing things and want you to have fun with them, and maybe you should do the same :))
@ollielebananiaCFSP
I was making joke about a "points doesn't matter" post coming from a person with a LOT of points (no clue how many you had when you posted this, but I still found it somewhat humorous), but yeah. Points aren't the most important thing, though as I believe you said, it can help make experiences builders easier to pick out.
I probably would have never mentally logged any of the "greats" if there wasn't that little black rectangle next to their username.
@Graingy ??? I'm not a billionaire, I'm not rich, I'm actually pretty poor lol and still, in my opinion money can't buy happiness.
So the same goes for points, especially here, it's not like you can actually do something with them.
There's a deep satisfaction of getting better at the game, but some useless internet points ? I don't see the point of it.
@ollielebananiaCFSP
"Money can't buy happiness"
-Billionaires
"Points don't mean anything"
-Platinum users
/s, but there is a deep satisfaction in watching the funny number go up
ok
@ollielebananiaCFSP Ahh ok
@FinX hey hey hey I was just asking at the start, and my objective is just to know what others think not impose my way of thinking. Maybe I sounded like I tried to impose my point of view but that's absolutely not what I want. And discussion is never useless or uneeded. ( @tsampoy I was just exposing my point of view because in the forum I made I haven't talked about people building for upvotes as a motivation, so I got curious and answered).
@ollielebananiaCFSP I mean I agree with @FinX , people have their own reason for playing SP it's pointless arguing whether or not upvotes should be people's motivation for building
@tsampoy SP is my fav game, it may be boring for you but for me it's a very funny game :)).
@AWESOMENESS360 first, no need to call me kid. And you'r saying to me that because you got older and more "mature" you now care about those points ? It's the exact opposite for me, I started playing this game like four years ago and at the start I cared about upvotes and with "maturing" I learned that all this was nothing. Attention is cool, sure, but I only build to share and even if tomorrow all my builds do 0 upvotes I will continue to share and post things. I don't really get how you want more recognition by getting older, I though it was the true kids out here that wanted upvotes before everything else.
@ollielebananiaCFSP SP is kinda getting boring ngl, which is why I play other games like Stormworks, BeamNG drive, or SR2, or do other things to pass the time.
@ollielebananiaCFSP Yeah, I post things in the website for upvotes, but I build things in the game just for fun
@ollielebananiaCFSP Kid, my motivation for building things didn’t have a limit when I first started playing this game. I built stuff whenever because I had nothing more fun to do at the moment, and I didn’t really care. But as you get older, you start to want to have recognition for what you create, especially if you’re good at it. So eventually, attention and approval from the SP Community became my motivation to build stuff, because of the reaction it gets. It’s all just a thing of maturing, really. Sure, it’s only internet points that have no actual meaning in the real world, but they have meaning in our minds, and we take pride in the points we earn because we know that the more points we have, the more people we know we’ve influenced and entertained.
@dINE Not building a lot isn't a bad thing, just build when you want it, it's a game ot a plane factory.
@tsampoy @AWESOMENESS360 So upvotes are a reason to build for you, but when you first clicked on the button "download SimplePlanes" you didn't pay the game to have upvotes right ? You first played this game because you like sandboxs and maybe even more planes, generaly you learn about the website and the upvote system later. So what happened to the part of you all that played just to build and share things, because building with upvotes as a motivation is kinda a shame for me.
@MrSilverWolf that's exactly what I think.
@UsualPioneer that's all in the "upvote system is broken" topic. I understand what you mean and it's true that some people get a lot of points out of nowhere (sometimes it's legit, sometimes it isn't). It's good that you don't say anything about it, don't get into trouble for nothing. The fact that people don't comment is a problem.
@KnightOfRen It's not fake internet points, it's just that internet points are fake.
i really don't care about them anymore...i rather have comments about my builds and i don't build much :c
Yes, because they motivate me to create more stuff for your enjoyment. Unless it’s on something really stupid I made that took like five minutes to make, give something like that a lot of upvotes and it just demoralizes me.
Upvotes to me are a silly thing to put a irrelevant number next to your name and have no value on whether or not you are a good builder
Its the system reddit follows, except on reddit one upvote is valued way less.
Your talking about me arent you
@KnightOfRen dont get banned like wiimini
@TriStar Oh yeah
