>>plane is finished now CLICK HERE<<
Took a while huh?
I finally got around to working on the harrier again! At this point it was kind of old and in need of updating to work with all of the new systems that have been added like: cockpit glass, funky trees, smoothing etc.
I originally built the new front section, cockpit and new ejection seat sometime last year after glass was first added.
Originally my plan was to just graft the new front section onto the old body, unfortunately that ended up being harder than expected..the problem was that I'd built it at a different angle and it wouldn't properly line up...so yeaah.. I ended up redoing most of the body. At least this let me fix some of the issues with the old version to be more accurate.
Most parts were then also rebuilt to look better and fit the new fuselage sections, the only parts I brought over from the old version were the wings, missiles, stabilators and gun pod...except technically I did build these wings after the original teaser....and the same goes for the landing gear..and the gun pod..AND-
ok so yeah I've pretty much just rebuilt the entire thing...
If I wasn't a complete idiot I would've just posted the first version instead of slowly remaking everything and then posted the newer version later! For more points!
AAAAAAA
I'll probs link the old version unlisted except it is uglier and doesn't work properly.
Any how, here's some screenshots of the finished build:
A lot of this was built by guesstimating, I used multiple blueprints not all of them aligned in which case I'd use those that most closely matched images. For example the main blueprint I had was off in places ie. the gun pod and doesn't have the many changes made to both the NA and Harrier II variants of AV-8B. The nose also seemed to be too down slanted and it looked off no matter what I did with it. the final front section is based off of a detailed top view blueprint of the harrier in DCS world for accurate length and placement and a sideview illustration I'm taking with somewhat of a grain of salt.
I think maybe the front section isn't quite as tall as it should be, but it's barely noticeable and I think I'll leave it as is considering how long it would take to fix.
My final result still lines up pretty closely with my references
Very close to being able to post, just need some help with funky trees code for the ejection seat.
after that idk I'll probably post in at least 1.7 years
@ZETA01 I probably won't sorry, mobile friendly versions of planes take a while to make and aren't that fun to make either.
But anyone else is free to try and make one if they want to
Will you make a mobile friendly version?
@Destroyerz117 darn
@ChrisPy I don't I'm just using the DCS harrier as a reference
Daayyyuummm
@Destroyerz117 nice
Also, I didn't know you played DCS!
Btw i can help you w/ the seat as well
you should let me test it lol
Chokes to death on mobile
Looks really nice, T
@Destroyerz117 really! that's really efficient for how it looks so far
@JeffChandler yeah it was a screenshot of the original teaser I posted, sort of cropped off so it's hard to tell
@asteroidbook345 yeah I really wanted to have that be a thing when I figured out glasd could shatter
I have a gun they shoots it which means FireGuns is used to launch the ejection seat, the actual gun pod uses a cannon so it can still fire separately
@ws 1600
😩 this just puts my harrier to Shame 😯😯😯
Glorious
how many parts?
cool
@asteroidbook345 yeah, that looks amazing!
Truly amazing. Great work!
I like how the glass breaks on ejection
