a lot of people don't know, but "negative damage" (i.e. "healing") exists, the only way i know to do it is to set a gun's damage to negative (in XML) and shoot it at the part you want to heal. it also works to "remove" normal damage (the usual red bits) and turn them non-damaged or even use the negative damage as armor, as parts with negative damage actually do seem to have more health than damaged and normal-condition parts.
based on the random scattering of the negative damage, your ship was most likely shot by an AI craft whose guns were XML modded to have negative damage, or some other similar cause.

If you set the weapon damage to 0 it also does this, but has no effect
