Would go for:

• C&C Generals Zero Hour Mods (esp. the hero vehicles and support vehicles cause they have the outright outlandish sorts)
• Red Alert 3 Mods
• Twisted Metal (cause Sweet Tooth's car is very simple by amateur standards
- Edit: Sweet Tooth's Head model on might be the hardest part though

If you are doing fictional stuff, take a break and play some other games that have cool planes in them. You will be inspired quickly.
Step 1: Do Methamphetamine
Step 2: Hoh BOY you have so many ideas, you feel unstoppable!!
Step 3: Isolate yourself with your thoughts
Step 4: Create whatever the hell insane thing comes to mind, regardless of how feasible it is
Step 5: Profit?

I use military factory for most of my research, they have so many different aircraft and normal military machines it's kinda crazy, I would suggest that.
