77 years ago today the americans, British, and Canadian forces landed on 4 beaches on Normandy France. The operation to take Normandy would take 85 days of hell, through cities and towns, through farms, and of course, on the beaches. Around a year later Germany would be taken down, and in another few months Nagasaki and Hiroshima would be the first and hopefully the only victims of being hit by atomic bombs, for combat reasons. As many as 19,000 men died on both sides while taking normandy and even more would be lost on the march through France.
Let us all salute their sacrifice on all sides.
"In time of war judgement is clouded, but when peace comes we can reflect and mourn the losses of so many men and women to the horrors of war. War is the part of society that shall pass, we should learn to sort are differences through means of diplomacy and not through the ending of hundreds of thousands of men and women, and those caught in the crossfire. Systems should be in place to help make sure leaders are not to powerful so that wars and invasions can be avoided. We are all apart of the human race, we are all very similar, the only thing that divides us is our positions in politics, and imaginary lines in land to separate different governments. Let no one die in vain, let us remember why we got into these conflicts, let us learn from these wars and help to advance our society to a place of relative peace and prosperity where science and the pursuit of happiness are the only ambitions of man."
Utmost Respect and gratitude to the brave men and women that fought for us, great post!
sad Australian noises
I salute those that were on that beech and those who weren't, but also contributed.
D-Day will never be Forgoten to those who Saved the World
”It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who have died. Rather we should thank god that such men lived” - George S. Patton
enjoy this song.

Everyone, take a moment to pay respect to these people. They saved the world and made the ultimate sacrifice to do it.
Thank you to all the men that died to prevent many more from having to go through the same hell
@AWESOMENESS360 quite true
Nobody of this generation will ever be as badass as a military war veteran.
