Dear mods,
I have been working on an SP help tool (as a separate PC/Mac/Linux programme).
I want to share it with the community, but don't know if it is allowed to share links to exe files. It is written in c++, and is in its beta. I can share the link, but only if the mods allow me.
I hereby ask the mods' permission to share a link to a Google Drive folder containing:
A .exe file, the programme itself. It doesn't require installation
A .cpp file, containing the source code (can be opened in notepad)
An incomplete README file.
Thank you.
@AndrewGarrison Thank you, this clears things up a lot!
If you want to try it, here's the link: >click me<
dang this is actually pretty promising and handy
@SyntheticL Have done it, waited a few days got no response (probably busy with giorgio). I thought it'd be a good idea to do it via the forums, since others would be able to read it too.
What have you even been working on?
Yes, it is fine to post your tool here. An .exe file is really no better or worse than installing a mod for SP. That is why we display the disclaimer when a player clicks on the download link for a mod. Ultimately, the player needs to trust the author, because even with the source code there's no way to know that was the actual source code used to build the mod/exe. Download at your own risk.
I'm sure this is obvious, but airplanes are different and are perfectly safe to download. There's no executable code in those.
@MrGreen You should contact Jundroo via their e-mail.
Are you a socialist?
