I've played around with the new update and love it! But here's a thought: would you like to see target available in Sandbox mode? I built a ship with various weapons on it, including some missiles. While I can fire the guns and rocket pods, there are no targets available to fire the missiles at...
What do you guys think? Would you like to see some drones and dummy tanks to shoot at?
@Sofa agreed. I have a old laptop I was measuring it on. It could be giving me different results aside from my gaming rig
@Nickasaurus I took a moment to monitor the CPU and memory usage throughout a solo flight versus a bout in WWII dogfight mode (2 bots at once) and a game of Bomber Escort (1 - 3 bots at once). I didn't notice any changes between them. FPS, meanwhile, stays locked at 60 no matter what. So maybe I'm not correctly monitoring it, or this is just a problem on mobile devices and exceptionally low-end systems. Whatever case, darned if I ain't curious. I think this warrants further discussion, although not on this thread.
@JShay Agreed.
@JovianPat @Nickasaurus In the missile training, drones and tanks spawn as you shoot them down, and it runs very smoothly. I just want that in sandbox, where you can chose your start location and not have a timer running... So you can test your builds missile capabilities 👍
@Nickasaurus Let's not hope that the drone would spawn underground and exploded.
@JovianPat good idea. There could be a couple forseeable bugs with this and might be hard to work those out
@Sofa I'm saying if you look at the cpu/gpu usage during a one plane flight and the dogfight with two of the same plane it uses over twice the amount of resources to process them. With mobile devices it's hard to get two a.i. planes to perform well.
There should be a hotkey to spawn a drone/tank at random place between 0.5 to 5 miles from you.
Snap a pylon give it an activator then put a missile of choice on then boom missile for sandbox!
Not tracking though. :(
@Nickasaurus I'm looking at dogfights and races now, and that's not giving me any idea whatsoever. Are you saying that PC and Mac players are getting major performance hits just by having two or more planes out at once?
@Sofa your asking for full planes with an a.i. program behind each one with two factions. To get an idea of how intense this is for your video card and cpu let's look at the two a.i. for dogfight/races now. The a.i.'s take up so much resources that most phones can't handle two. Since simpleplanes doesn't combine parts it makes 500 small parts almost about as laggy as 500 big parts. So yes, it would easily lag most moderate laptops and personal computers.
@JShay I hear you. You can put missiles on detachers and they will launch but still no lock
@Nickasaurus I don't see how that would be very performance-intensive unless you had hundreds of them buzzing around at once.
@Nickasaurus ya, it's cool to shoot down the bridge, but you can use any air-to-air or air-to-ground missiles in sandbox mode because there aren't any targets to lock on to... I just want something that I can test my missiles on, especially if I put them on something other than a plane...
@Sofa what kind of computer do you have that can run that???
you can shoot the bridge down in sandbox... not much outside of that
What would be neat is a sort of "living sandbox", where you have two AI factions (one friendly, one less so) duking it out over the map. Instead of just having targets to shoot at, you have enemy fighters to scrap with, bombers to intercept before they reach their targets, commerce ships to sink, bases to level, and your own counterparts to work alongside and/or defend. I think there could be something similar for the less combat-inclined, but I dunno how that'd work.
Yes please lol just flying around in my Eurofighter then I see like a dummy tank. Rolls over and dives like WAAAAAAAA dropping 1500 pounds of bomb on his sorry behind XD That would be great.
@tan2015 what?
