"The F-4 Phantom was the last plane that looked like it was made to kill somebody."
- Phantom Phlyer Col. (Ret.) Chuck B. DeBellevue
I felt like my MiG-21bis needed an adversary, so I started working on an F-4C Phantom II. (Granted, the E-variant might've been a better match, but I could also make a MiG-21F-13 or J-7II.)
The final version will have a couple air-to-ground loadouts and I hope to include some LAU-10/A Zuni rocket pods and definitely tons of unguided bombs.
I also plan to add the SUU-23/A gunpod to compensate for the lack of an internal cannon. (Although, I am definitely keeping an air-to-air loadout with only Sparrows and Sidewinders for the extra authenticity.) And of course, I'm going to add the meme loadout with 5 (Yes, FIVE.) SUU-23/A gunpods for maximum BRRRT.
Edit: I found out it's highly unlikely this plane actually flew with this configuration, so the "normal" BRRRT loadout will be 3 SUU-23/A's. But I'll still allow the option of 5 for the memes.
I also made a new version of the AIM-7 Sparrow, which on my F-15C, behaved like an active radar homing missile (i.e. The AIM-120 AMRAAM) rather than a semi-active radar homing missile. This time around, I hid a Guardian missile inside so that you have to keep the target locked while the AIM-7 is tracking (Similar to the R-3R's on my MiG-21bis).
On a final note, this Phantom won't have flares since according to my incredibly accurate sources (War Thunder and Google), US Air Force F-4C's did not carry flares. Only US Navy F-4B's carried flares.
Of course, I may be (and probably am) wrong.
Oh, and for those curious, this is currently sitting at 207 parts (30 parts of which are weapons and their mounts).
"On a final note, this Phantom won't have flares since according to my incredibly accurate sources (War Thunder and Google)"
BWUAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH Using gaijin as a source and google? You gotta be kidding me. Those dense skulled idiots at gaijin shouldn't ever be allowed to be a " source " for any thing. the F4-C's radar can barely pick up targets in warthunder, the UH-1 is missing flares, and so many U.S planes are missing lead indicators, there no point in playing them.
@ReinMcDeer I suppose the use of ECM pods was considered enough for USAF fighters and fighter-bombers. On that note the USN had internal ECM equipment on their aircraft (not at first, but certainly as the war ran on)
@EngineerOtaku Ah, I see... Guess the SA-2 was pretty scary. Although, I still find it weird that the F-4C didn't have them :/
Let me be that person for a moment

Ahem, ACKTSHUHLLEE
.
USN Aircraft carried chaff, not flares. USAF B-52's carried chaff as well, and the reason is actually pretty obvious given the equipment used by the NVAF; SAM counter. Maybe flares existed in the timeframe of the war, but as far as I can tell (and I'm not well read at all, so don't take my word) flares didn't come into use until after Vietnam for most countries.
@ReinMcDeer ok cool I Just like the c130
@ssu24 I wasn't happy with it, but I might renovate it and post it if I get the time
Yo this cool but were is the c 130 I saw it on the teaser of your bio
@ReinMcDeer goooooooooood it will not kill my mobile (star wars)
phrick
@Kendall0Clock I like to be notified about builds I think are cool. I’m also a member of the Illuminati.
@ReinMcDeer alright cool
Anyway, this build looks amazing. I’m excited!
You comment T on everything. Is it some sort of code? An invitation to a secret society? Trying to determine my allegiance to a cause?
@BeastHunter

They actually did carry flares, just not the ones you think.
They dropped illumination flares at night for when the scouts, etc weren’t over the AO
@TheKugelblitz Here you go, it's just a generic tow tractor. It's not too functional, but it's good for screenshots.
Nice! If i haven't said already

Can I have the link for the orange car?
Phabulous!
