Thoughts on using 1PartsHud in VR

112k PlanariaLab  3.0 years ago

Well, I am pleased to see that I have gotten a lot of responses to my previous post about 1PartsHud.

Initially, I envisioned it being used this way, and many people used it as well. And they were working correctly on the screen.
But when I saw it in VR.
In other words, when viewed in 3D, this looked very uncomfortable.
What should be projected at a virtual infinity is displayed very close to your face, which distorts your sense of distance and makes either the outside view, default Gun reticle, or Hud look like astigmatism.
In addition, there is a discrepancy between the camera's position and the actual position of the eyeball, so the TDBox is significantly off.

This seems to be the most decent way to improve visibility so far.
However, this may create new problems in the future because the label is sticking out of the plane.

Works as is, but will need to be scaled up slightly if you wanna see what the text is and what the numbers are

@PlanariaLab Maybe you've thought about this solution already but here it is anyway. You can have the HUD way in front of the plane (or even sticking out) and have the HUD only active when the cockpit camera is active.

@PlanariaLab Ah, I meant that comment in jest. I was actually hoping for the dev to include a customizable hud/reflector part that allows html illiterate person like myself to customize and use. Your 1 part hud is very impressive for what it does, but that wall of html code tho.

If I can find a better way to improve it, I may make one, but it will probably be a while before I do. Someone else may do it before then.
