Senate proposes regulation of mukbang and food related online content to solve discrimination and insensitivity against the poor and starving
Today, senators from the Supreme Democracy Party seeks regulation of any online content regarding excessive consumption of food, such as "mukbang". "Mukbanging" is a Korean term that means eating large amounts of any kinds of food in front of large numbers of audience of any ages online and has seen a trend throughout streaming platforms in the past few years. But due to most of the content showing excessive consumption of food may sound "greedy" to some. The senators who pushed for the proposal stated that the proposal aims to discourage gluttony as a obstacle to the country's Christian values and and to reduce discrimination against the working class and the poor. According to them, the proposal will contain regulations, such as: if a "mukbang" video is monetized, half of the profits may be used as proceeds to state sponsored or privately organized charity events, setting up a mandatory state sponsored monthly charity program, and lastly, the uploader should show any acts of charity during any streaming activity such as giving any food featured in the stream to family members, neighbors and nearby homeless people. This proposal has generated opinions, some disagree due to Krakabloa's poverty levels are at its all time low to the law to be implemented. To help enforce the proposal, the Krakabloan Democratic Police Force's Cyber Police Division will hire and assign moderators to any online platforms to crack down on violators. The proposal will be forwarded to the Council of Sovereignty to get the final nod on the approval. Once it is approved by a vote, the new law will be implemented and enforced.
