In both of the World War II missions in combat, you aren’t allowed to use jet engines, but what about the Messerschmitt Me-262? Or the Focke-Wulf Triebflügel? How have the devs not heard of the two most famous jets from World War II? Especially since they were a marvel of technology that even the P-51 mustangs had trouble with.

No jets because then it wouldn't limit you to "period" aircraft. It's just a silly restriction to force people to build "older" planes for that mission even though you can build a prop plane that goes a million miles an hour in SP. It obviously isn't out of ignorance: Since jets were a very minor part of WWII combat, I think it makes sense they'd be excluded. The WWII mission is just an artifact of the first days of the game, and those missions have never been updated.

Well first, I don't know why you would mention the Focke-Wulf Triebflügel, seeing how that was only a Concept.
Second, because the number of props in WW2 obviously outweigh the number of jets by an incredible amount, so it makes sense for Jets to not be allowed in this mission, considering only 3 jet aircraft types ever made it into service in WW2, one of which only has one recorded victory and another which may or may not have fought against any manned aircraft.

The triebflugel really is not a great plane. Theres a thing called gyroscopic precession that would render it unmanuverable
...I'm not sure the triebflugel is the best aircraft to prove your point.

Plus, even if they allow the non-afterburning jets to be used, that still doesn't stop you from using post-WW2 jets.
