Digital Screens

10.3k VisionAviation  2.8 years ago

So, we already have steam gauges to pick from in the parts menu. But it would be great if we could have a similar selection of digital gauges, or screens, as well.

Screens such as:
- Primary Flight Display (And the ability to pick from different styles, like Airbus style or Boeing style)
- Radar
- NAV/GPS screen (+TCAS, maybe?)
- Systems screen (Showing stuff like control surfaces, engines, fuel, etc. And the ability to set the amount of engines. Perhaps even the ability to assign engine 1, engine 2, etc.)

SimpleRockets 2 I think has them, been years since I’ve played that, I don’t understand why they can’t just do the same thing in Simpleplanes, am I right? I want to make a helicopter that has similar abilities to an AWACs aircraft.

@JeskoGoesVROOM I've not seen that display but I'll have to have a look. Haven't played SR2 that much.

i was thinking they could just integrate the MFD from SR2 but then they'd also have to import Vizzy to the game so that's a whole other issue, but just having some basic screen templates like described would be neat

@AirCrashInvestigationFLR You're completely missing the point of my suggestion. I am well aware of mods, XML editing, variables, all that stuff. But what I'd like are in-game parts.

Also, point me a mod that does what I'm requesting here? Find me a digital screen, Primary Flight Display mod, you won't.. And I don't mean some weird thing that somebody has put together with parts, rotators, pistons, etc. which is way too complicated, easy to mess up in flight and hard to move in the craft builder once attached to another part.

And even if you did find it, the problem is other people cannot use your build, unless they also download the mod. Which from experience, is often a turn-down for people.

@VisionAviation Sometimes, I prefer ingame, sometimes I prefer the variables. Do you use modifications? Mods for short

@AirCrashInvestigationFLR I bet but that's not what I mean with this suggestion. Plus, it's cool how much we can do with variables and xml editing, but it's even better if we can do it from the game by default.

You can manual startup using buttons and switches with Variables.
