I did the same thing when I typed that out

the brackets ( [] ) are for an alternate text, given that the image does not load correctly

so put ![]() down, and put the link to the image or gif in the () part.

Copy the URL of a .gif.
You have to upload it somewhere, there are websites that are for that but I think your best bet is to upload it to a private discord server.
