I saw this interesting concept in a game made by the now hiatussed company, FrozenPepper. The game was called "1948: Dawn of Future" and it featured gyroscopic camera.
Here's how it is described on the app store page, which is still up:
"- 3d cockpit view mode with gyroscope (move your device and look everywhere!)"
I find this feature to be intriguing, as no other engine for games uses this feature, and the only reason is because most of them use the gyroscope for stick control, excluding SimplePlanes, which has the option to, but defaults to dual stick controls.
My suggestion is specifically for Android/iOS that we should be able to control the angle of cameras using the gyro in our phones. this would allow easier control of the aircraft, vr designed cockpits, and better use of controls. I do mean this specifically for first person cameras, as I am unsure how a gyroscope would control a third person orbiting/chase camera.
I certainly hope people see this, and that they will take it seriously, as it would be much easier to use than drag controls. While it is possible to do this while sacrificing pitch/roll control, I would much prefer the ability to use this in conventionally controlled aircraft.
