I think building with limited numbers of parts (such as under 20 parts Challenge) is important. Because it forces me to think before selecting parts, and to maximize to use out of it. As the result, it makes me more understanding and built better. I could always do more and more details based on a simple model. It is like comparing to a layout sketch and doing the detailed drawing based on a preliminary sketch. If the sketch is not good, you could not be sure of a good result.
This plane is made out of only 19 parts (including missiles and a gun). Still, it is very stable at a speed of nearly 1000mph. Using a Vee-tail also reduces one part, lol. Design inspired by Fouga CM.170 Magister (for the V-Tail) and SAAB-29 Tunnan... for the engine placement
Thanks, especially, I have joined SimplePlanes just 2 months ago, and lots of things to learn. So better making myself master the basic concepts before digging deeper with the details @ollielebananiaCFSP
@WinsWings oh don't worry I really do understand what you said, and it's cool that it can help you. Part efficiency is the true hard part in simpleplanes, and learning it like you do it by making low parts build is very great !
Absolutely right.
@pancelvonat
I am not ditching for building with million of parts. I also respect what you could do. I am just pointing out for critical thinking and how it benefits (at least to me). It is like building a model before building a real one. I built a 20 part model and later do the detail work. @ollielebananiaCFSP
Yeah looking back at my comment i was definitely wrong about most of the stuff, although i do still think that part efficiency is still more impressive than just using a ton of parts to make something look good. @ollielebananiaCFSP
@Dathcha also you need skills to makie good looking builds with so many parts lol
@Dathcha well ok, make a plane with 1000. Because no it isn't easy at all to make a good replica, and having a low part count when you want to make something that looks good, flys good, have a good looking interior and a lot of functionalities. Using a lot of parts to make detail and matching with a blueprint doesn't mean it will be easy. But you are right on one point, there's one really difficult thing to learn, and it is part efficiency, as the guy that wrote this forum does. Trying to do the best with a limited part count, he's limit is 20 but ofr exemple mine is always around 1000, so I have to make details but by using my brain, if you look up at my builds, there a lot of parts, but they are used with brain cells. A good builder don't make low parts builds, but builds with good part efficiency.
Thanks @Awsomur @pancelvonat
Very cool build.
... My suggested motto "Low-Partism" is based on the conviction that an aircraft has not only unchanging dimensions, but also impressions, and the complementary ability to justify itself through paint and behavior. ...
I really don't care how many parts a build has. It's either intricate and well thought out or it's not.
Hmmm, I don’t think anyone can just keep placing parts and make it look good, there is still definitely a lot of skill required there. There are pros and cons to building with few parts and with lots of parts, neither is inherently better than the other if done well either way. @Dathcha
Yes! @ReinMcDeer
hi
I think why people dont do it is it tales a lot of time. But its certainly harder to make a good low part plane than a multi those part one @Rodrigo110
Obviously it's not true that anyone can make a plane good with 1000 parts because otherwise everyone would do it. You don't need to drag down builds with lots of parts to justify low part builds. @Dathcha
@Dathcha ReinMcDeer does that by using resized parts for details instead of fuselage blocks to save on parts, his planes usually turn out pretty great and with a low enough part count that i don't have to worry about it.
I actually judge how skilled a build is on how few parts it is. While the builds with thousands of parts look cool, anyone can make a plane look good by just adding more and more parts. Making a nice looking plane with few parts is quite an accomplishment, as you need to make every part perfect
