< Part 3 | Part 1 >
So I've Done Some Building...
Everything Works
Just like my SWL-10, I am making sure every single control in the cockpit has a function. That means everything can be controlled.
The advanced systems this plane will include are:
- Realistic fuel drain from a selection of tanks
- Batteries discharge and charge
- New and improved autopilot
- Working waypoint system with flight plans
- ILS system
- Realistic and detailed startup sequence
This week's YouTube video is about all the updates to this plane, and can be found here.
I haven't coded the autopilot yet, however the waypoint system is mostly complete. You can select a waypoint to fly to, or create a whole flight plan with multiple waypoints. These waypoints are then fed into the autopilot's target heading code. When you get within a certain distance of a waypoint, the system automatically targets the next waypoint.
I've also made a working "click-and-drag" throttle quadrant. You can drag any levers, or you can use the inputs. This means you can have differential thrust, by dragging only one throttle lever, and leaving the other. As soon as you change the throttle input, the throttle levers automatically jump back to the value of throttle.
On the topic of waypoints, there are currently 20, with 14 of them being pre-programmed, and the rest you can set yourself. Below is a map of the pre-programmed waypoints (click the image to get a larger one).
Waypoint naming convention: Waypoint Name (Latitude, Longitude)
There's still a lot to do, but I'll make sure to update you all along the way!
Credits so far:
- EdamCheese6 - Basic Waypoint System, plus other ideas and systems still in development.
- klm747 - Testing, feedback, and ideas for systems. He was the one who suggested the waypoint system in the first place.
- zwen - ILS System. While I did code my own, it has a larger angle, and doesn't work on airports which are not North, East, South, or West. His system also includes a HUD modified to have the markers. I'm going to use its code in combination with my radio frequency systems.
Dang
@ROTAerospace5 💀
@PlaneFlightX Hello SWL CEO TurboLines Want To Order 35 SWL-120
@BruhMomenthmgfbvbukjgv I think you're on the wrong post, this is part 2 and part 3 is here. Anyway, the current part count for the most recent version is 2125.
How many parts does this beast even have?!
I can’t stop looking at the exterior photos of this plane, it’s so smooth and cool. T.
@PlaneFlightX cool
@IceCraftGaming Yes. (Mostly). It won't have the ultra advanced stuff, but most things you'd find in a flight sim (and more even) will be in this. By ultra advanced I mean things like a fully working keyboard where you can type letters. It will have a waypoint system with flight plans and an autopilot with many functions like flying to waypoints.
so.. this would have everything a commercial plane would have?
@Hazerz What I meant is it doesn't show people your (the account of Hazerz) favorites.
@PlaneFlightX i know. I put it there so people could see it.
@Hazerz Yes, however that link takes you to your own favorites, for example I see my own favorites.
@PlaneFlightX oh... Does my link to my fav still work?
@Hazerz I know that link, I was talking about the user who asked in the beginning.
@PlaneFlightX @TheinfamousCockpiter
Click here
@PlaneFlightX fine i'll send a link
@Hazerz That doesn't work. It takes you to your own list.
@TheInfamousCockpiter go to my profile then scroll down and click my list of favorites
@Hazerz Do you have a link to the Yamato 1945?
Hahahaha, the commercial flight master is back at it 😈
@PlaneFlightX Cool can't wait
@ILoveAirplanes Again, I need to write a paragraph about this in the next big forum update. The plan is for this plane to technically be VR compatible, even if the performance cost is too much. I will also post several different versions, including a flying cockpit. So yes, it will be VR compatible, even if it has too much of a performance impact. So the answer to your question is no, however you can download another version of it to get the cockpit experience.
I don't even know why the heck I'm asking this question, but will this run fine on a standalone Quest 2?
Edit: if you can, make a version where the cabin is empty (except for the cockpit obviously)
@PlaneFlightX This is nothing compared to the Yamato 1945. Trust me, you will lose your pc if you download it.
@FRIGGLES Yes, those are speedbrakes.
