I have a better idea, how about you mind your own business, and I upvote as often as I dang wanna?
I’m aware the intended function of this is to help prevent spamming a ton of upvotes on your own builds with an alt, but does it really do that?
You really only have to wait like a 30 seconds to a minute, and if someone has made an alt just for this, that amount of time isn’t gonna stop them.
Maybe a mod can shine some light on how exactly this helps?
I think the cool down is actually from causing the website to crash cause imagine if there was 100,000k people who wanted to upvote a build there's a lot of things that have to happen 1 the web has to process your upvote and recognise your account to but a name down 2 the upvote changes your account score and finally the coding changes in that time cause even though it's just a whole bunch of 0s and 1s they still need to change and imagine that everyone upvotes about 20 planes in under a minute that would cause chaos for the system to cope and so obviously the devs have found an optimal waiting time so that it's still fun to use the website but it's also to prevent a system crash I mean how many times has this platform gone down for different reasons
See, the website is ran by 2 nuclear powered M-22E Engines with enough output to power around 40,000 buildings. If an upvote spam occurs, the insertion rods will be under mass pressure causing it to push the nuclear fuel rod into the nuclear rod casing and pretty much slowly turning it into IHOP pancakes. If more than 150 upvotes are done in less than 30 minutes, the insertion rod will be under so much pressure that the nuclear fuel rod now looks like me after I piss on the floor because the toilet doesn't work. (Not a true story)
After that, since there is nothing to power the 2 engines, the reactors will begin to cool down to -3° Fahrenheit, which will cause ice to form. If a fuel rod is inserted, there are 2 outcomes:
1: The rod breaks causing an explosion
2: Rare, but the ice goes into the rod and pretty much doesn't do anything.
The last time this happened, Jundroo had to get an entirely new planet.
Anyway, if a Reactor Upvote Freeze Event (RUFE) occurs, a system is employed. The Upvote Cooldown System (UCS). If an upvote spam begins to occur, you must wait 30 seconds or max of 1 minute to upvote again. Without the UCS, the entire Simple Planes website will have had a RUFE, causing the fuel rod inserted to explode, thus destroying the planet.
Why tf is this so damn LONG
Upvoting increases the core temperature and if you don’t wait the cooldown you will face a reactor meltdown.
Just saying, I really hate that.
@Tookan
Yeah I agree with the limit on spotlights.
I was going to mention something about spotlighting, but spam spotlighting people's stuff could make your followers receive a lot of notifications.
you have 5.555 points
I highly agree with this
Cooldown is necessary because there are literally thousands upon thousands of users upvoting every second.
@Numbers2
Interesting point.
same boi but you can still upboot
@X99STRIKER please pin that I spent 4 eons on it...
@Dathcha Lol
Ive upvoted like 50 of someones creations to get them to gold or something i dont remember, even with the timer it only took like 10 minutes. It doesnt delay the upvoting enough for them to be caught, its just a mild inconvenience @asteroidbook345
@X99STRIKER yeah fair
@asteroidbook345
Idk exactly how it all works, but there’s no way a delay of like a minute is gonna stop them.
@asteroidbook345
Yeah but, click
It's so you can't spam upvote stuff with an alt before they can catch you
@DeveloperKorzalerke
Get back here!
@X99STRIKER Uhh, i gotta go work on the game, bye!
@DeveloperKorzalerke
Wait your a dev shouldn’t you know this stuff!?
@DeveloperKorzalerke
Perhaps…
@BeastHunter The server is powered by nuclear energy?
@X99STRIKER Idk, there's probably a good reason for the cooldown, otherwise it wouldn't be there (i think).
@BeastHunter
Well that’s… unfortunate.
