The gen 4 stock car was used between the 1990s and mid 2000s, and was the key part in the aero wars, a battle between teams and manufacturers to use the body of the car to help improve lap times. The replacement for the gen 4, the car of tomorrow as it was called, was much more strict on body modifications, and made everything more level.
