How to make engines not consume fuel

1,234 IMULAerospaceIndustries  2.5 years ago

So I got bored and decided to make a “perfect” version of the stock P-51 (the simple version), and I’m adding the little exhaust ports at the front. I have 5 VTOL nozzles on each side with the VTOL engine having a powerMultiplier of 0, and an input of Throttle=1 so they only start shooting flames if I’m at 100% throttle. However the one main drawback is the insane fuel consumption. I lose almost all of my range, and the only solution I’ve found so far is adding infinite fuel (which I don’t want to do). Is there a way to set the fuel consumption of an engine to 0 or a little XML trick that would so the same?

    @IMULAerospaceIndustries What I meant by max was the maximum input field for the VTOL engine itself.
    To answer your question: probably not.

    After some research and laziness alike, the only max value I can find is the max value for the VTOL Nozzle’s built in rotators. If I set it to 0 they don’t move even if you move the VTOL slider. Would they still function if I made a new value and put max in the EngineThrustPort section? @TheFlightGuySP

    @IMULAerospaceIndustries No problem!

    That might work, assuming I could make the exhaust resemble its normal size with the scale modifier. Thanks!

    You could set the max input field to a very small number, but that would also decrease the size of the exhaust as well.
    As far as I'm concerned, there is no way around this issue. But you could try using lights with a modified input and color.
