Here's my idea:
Next to the icon for the fine tuner panel, on the bottom dashboard, would be a button that brought up an XYZ slider.

And you would have a part selected, and you could use it to quickly change the elevation and position of the part you selected.

@PlaneFlightX true, but you have to spam buttons. I meant where you slide your mouse for general positioning.
But we have this. Twice. In fine tuner and the new in game version.
