The Maywarian Coup d'etat or commonly known in Maywar as Alianqilab alfashil eam 1993 [Transl: Failed coup of 1993] is a failed coup d'etat whic took place in February 3, 1993. Organized by the Chief of the Maywarian Army, Gammal Abdullah Abdelaziz attempted to lead a coalition to depose then Prime Minister Abdullah Hamid Khomeini from power and suspended the Maywarian Constitution of 1992. The move came after the military's ultimatum to increase pensions for the retired.

BACKGROUND

Due to the resignation of Hussein Abdullah Haftar the previous year. Civil unrest started to form due to his reformative actions to lessen corruption. With the new Prime Minister taking place, he promised to continue the previous' policies which lessened unrest. 4 Months before the coup, the Federation of Retired Soldiers organized a protest which resulted in 100 Members getting killed by police.

THE COUP

On the night of February 3, coup participators opens fire on Maywarian Army soldiers which signified the start of the coup.

Within 4 hours, unrest south of the country starts.

THE NATION CRIES OUT FOR HELP

The first nation to intervene in the coup is the Wright who has naval, air, and ground assets stationed as part of the FAIN's Collective Defense Treaty, was the firs to respond to the coup. On the early morning hours of February 3, 1993, ships from the WIN's 3rd Destroyer Squadron sailed at Wittayahh-province as a show for force and one on the destroyers, WINS Cleopatra opens fire with her main guns at coup participators, 12 were recorded to be killed.

THE WRIGHT MOVES IN

The 22nd Marine Expeditionary Force begins to mobilize for Operation Earnest Will (Not to be confused with Operation Earnest Will, 1988) to reinforce the government to fight the coup.

On February 4, 1993, a WIAF MiG-29 downed a rebel L-39 Albatross over Golden City.

Earnest Will started on February 4, Marines secures the Minister's compound and takes up positions with Maywarian Army soldiers and assisted in the evacuation of foreign individuals at Golden City Intl. Airport.

THE END OF THE COUP

General Abdelaziz died of a heart attack in February 5, 1993. On February 6, the coup ended after rebels surrendered to government forces.

EFFECTS

Due to the coup, the Maywarian Dinar fell in value of the US Dollar. Jobs were halted due to the coup.

LEGACY

February 6 is widely celebrated as the Day of Victory.
