How to make a minecraft version of your planes.

Alright, so I have discovered a pretty easy way to make a guide to build a minecraft-ized version of your plane. For this tutorial, I am using Otana's FA - 91 Lancelot but you can use any plane you want as long as it has a fully developed shape.

Step 1:

click the export button and export the 3d file to your desktop.

Step 2:

go to tinkercad.com and create a new project. you'll need to create an account if you haven't used this website before.

Step 3:

click the "import" button in the top right of your screen. you should see the screen above. click the "choose a file" button or drag and drop the 3D file into the box.

Step 4:

Wait. A really long time. Tinkercad is not designed to handle files this large, so it will be a really long time before you see your model on the design surface. Be patient and don't refresh the page.

Step 5:

you'll probably have to rotate and scale your aircraft in order for it to work better. it should be about this size.

Step 6:

click that little pickaxe up there. It should take a while to load, so be patient.

Step 7:

you should have something that looks like that. You can adjust the resolution by clicking the buttons I highlighted at the top.

Step 8:

Build your plane using that page as a guide! I didn't do this step because it would take a while.
some things to keep in mind:
- Tinkercad will not preserve the colors of the original plane.
- Labels and some engine parts do not export to 3d files correctly.
- you may want to remove the landing gear before you export.
- to make your plane fly, make sure you set the mass and dragscale of all of the blocks to 0.0001. then attach wings and engines and move them inside of all of those blocks. you'll probably have to tweak further to make it fly well, but that's a subject for another guide.

Conclusion

Thanks for reading my guide! I hope this helps you. If you have any questions or have found a better way to do anything in this post, please let me know.
Sincerely,

32
