here's my advice: take someone else's plane and rebuild the whole thing from scratch. copy everything, but don't use the duplicate feature to do anything. It will take a lot of time and patience, but the knowledge you gain is invaluable.
Designing aircraft is an art. There is always a fine balance between its weight and lift, drag and thrust, etc.
I personally reccomend just experimenting with high lift producing aircraft and work your way from there.
For me, it took me about 2 years to "master" my plane design.
For adding more detail, I'd recommend looking at other players' builds and see what they do. I know RamboJutter's done a good amount of camo in the past, so I'd recommend checking out some of those builds if you want to do camo yourself.
For Funky Trees, there's always The Guide for general reference, but it usually works better to have a specific purpose in mind and then figure out how to make that work in FT. Just adding funky trees to a plane for the sake of doing it won't produce good results nine times out of ten. I'd also recommend looking at other users' builds for this, though definitely read through the guide first so you can understand some of it.
