simpleplanes is very processor heavy. If you just want to build, any cheap laptop will work. If you want to actually fly planes, you'll be disappointed in the performance of anything under $1000. One option would be to get a used desktop pc on Ebay or something. A decent one should set you back $500-$800 and can handle SimplePlanes pretty well. As for Minecraft, any new laptop should be able to run a vanilla survival mode world or a server without any stutters. Again, if you want to be able to have a more enjoyable experience (i.e. big creative mode builds, large explosions, graphics enhancing mods, etc. ) your cheapest option is probably a used PC in the $500-$800 range.
