1896 - Aegyptican Oceanliner AMS Bluetick capsizes in a storm In the Coral Sea on October 16. She rests in one piece, approximately 1,500ft underwater. The vessel was 583 feet in length. 1888-1896
1913 - Aegyptican Coastal Steamer SS Toucan sinks in rough seas on July 16 approximately 17nmi south of Cape Town. She rests in 3 pieces approximately 440ft underwater. 2 of the 3 sections rest upside-down, while the other rests on its belly. The vessel was 218 feet in length. 1874-1913
1916:
June 1- ARN Battlecruiser Elkhorn is sunk when shells from SMS Oldenburg strike her forward Gun turret, sparking a chain reaction that blew the bow apart. She rests on her side in exactly 600ft of water, 147nmi off the Scottish coast. It was the only Aegyptican ship lost to enemy fire in WW1. The vessel was 702 feet in length. 1915-1916
August 6 - ARN Destroyer Holbuck is scuttled after suffering damage from a collision with HMS Dreadnought. She rests on her belly in 124ft of water, just over 4nmi from the Scottish coast. The vessel was 300 feet in length. 1914-1916
1922:
February 12 - Decommissioned Pre-Dreadnought Archambault is sunk 128nmi off the coast of North Carolina during a target Excercise with the new USS California. She rests on her belly in 16,378ft of water. The vessel was 612 feet in length. 1902-1922
April 16 - ARN Destroyer Lemrik sinks after a fire breaks out in her boiler room. She sinks in Norfolk Harbor in approximately 23ft of water, and is raised just over a month later. She would later serve in World War Two with the Canadian navy as HMCS Grizzly. She survived the war and is now on display as a museum ship in Toronto Bay. She is 312 feet in length. 1917-present
1939:
September 6 - 5 Ju-87 Stuka attack ARN Battleship Salazar as she sits in Gdansk Harbor. The ship fires back but is stricken, and sinks in 40ft of water. The Germans capture her the next day and scrap the vessel. She was 726 feet in length. 1934-1939
December 18 - A sole Su-87 drops a bomb on ARN Cruiser Challenger, approximately 16nmi off the Polish coast. The bomb strikes the bridge and she sinks in less than 15 minutes. She rests upright in 513ft of water. She was 710 feet in length. 1937-1939
1940:
June 23rd - ARN Heavy Cruiser Pretoria is sunk during an encounter with KMS Scharnhorst. She rests upside-down in the North Sea in approximately 277ft of water. She was 612 feet in length. 1939-1940
June 23rd - ARN Destroyer Leech is sunk during the same engagement, and sinks upright just over a quarter mile from the Pretoria. She rests upright in 280ft of water. She was 410 feet in length. 1935-1940.
December 19th - ARN Heavy Cruiser Elkhorn sinks after a torpedo from a still undetermined U-Boat strikes her bow. She rests in 2 pieces, approximately 582 feet apart, in 13,600 feet of water in the Mediterranean. She was 752 feet in length. 1934-1940.
1941 -
December 26 - ARN Frigate Werewolf Is sunk by a Japanese Cruiser in the Solomon Sea. She rests on her side in just under 1,000 feet of water. The ship was 299 feet long.1941-1941. Later in the war, the Superbattleship ARN Impactor, a 916 foot behemoth of a vessel, sank the Japanese ship in April of 1945.
