Hi,
I saw some nice helicopters out there but very few compared to airplanes.
So I have some questions about helicopters. What do you think about building or piloting one? How many of you think it is hard to fly or hard to build one? I notice that it is kind of holding people from building or flying helicopters in SP -
Also, what will be helpful from those who are already good at building helicopters?
I'm not extremely experienced with building helicopters, but I can say that if you plan building a coaxial chopper I would definitely recommend adding stabilized yaw control to the rotors (not using a gyroscope).
Since I'm on the subject of gyros, I would simply avoid using them entirely. If you want an auto-hover system I would simply program it into the rotors. If the helicopter is a bit (or very) unstable then add a fly-by-wire system.
Again, I am by no means an expert on this subject. These are just my personal recommendations.
I don't build or fly them cause they're a pain. I do fly VTOL aircraft though.
Helicopter rotor had a lot of build-in mechanisme than any propulsion in this game. It needs multiple tweak to have the decent flight setting. Features like stability, control, climb rates and etc also important on your build.
Building: Quite simple. May need some development but after some time its all good.
Piloting: Heck naw
They're hard to fly for me.
@Farewellntchii And also, thanks for the attack helicopter gun thing. That is awesome
@TheFlightGuySP Thank you, I did some gyros too. It is another interesting topic.
@OPaiTaOn of course, You are the #1 winner for my Heli challenge. :P
Build helicopters is so easy
They're not too hard, but learning to fly them takes some practice.
(Coming from someone whose most realistic heli experience is Battlefield)
@Farewellntchii Thanks for the insight. I like to build as much as possible with the original physics, but if too tricky, yes, why not add some extra wings or edit the XML. thank you again
