The last serious project I made in simpleplanes was this:
I uploaded this 3 years ago. I made my last post a few months later.
I am now competent in 3D modelling. and here is my retrospect on simpleplanes, more specifically, insane detail in simpleplanes.
To sum it up, insanely detailed projects in simpleplanes are impressive, but they are also INSANELY time consuming and tedious, as this is a SIMPLE game. I quickly realized when I started to 3D model how crazy it is to spend 2 months on a plane in SP, when you can make something a lot better in a matter of days in blender. And I do mean a matter of days, and I do mean a LOT better. Now of course the advantage of SP is you can fly the planes, but if your plane is 4000 parts then you cant even do that.
My point is, there is a level of detail in SP which is so extreme, that you should just model the damn thing. The amount of research, dedication and passion some people have here is nuts and if they put it into modelling instead of SP they could make a career out of it.
In retrospect, making crazy builds like this was not where I had the most fun in SP. If anything it was the most tedious part.
The fun was making stupid things like Snakey, the multiplayer mod, the community, things like that. All the countless controversies I made and was in in belugasub PRIME was great fun, from the OG Ducc to German Corsair. BTW, the whole reason I blew up the German Corsair was because me and some buddies (Numbers) found it whilst scrolling through the newest section which is something we often did together.
I have been out of SP for almost 3 years, its a very different place to what I remember, and I will not be coming back. I did however boot up SP again for the first time, and have had a blast just creating simple planes.

This is my most recent plane, I am going to call him Jacob because I think that is a fitting name. I have a ground attack variant and a interceptor variant. I will upload him sometime today.

And thanks to whoever reads, I doubt many will even click on this as I assume the belugasub name isnt as known as it once was in the ol days.
alright guys its done here it is https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/Ft4SDR/Jacob
I’m going to take this as an invitation to shitpost violently
I don't play SP to make highly detailed stuff, I played SP because I liked the learning curve. To me it was just kinda fun to have to figure out new things without a shit ton of YT tutorials out there to hold your hand.
@belugasub
Gorilla: Likes leaves.
Killer whale: likes the flesh of the bloop-bloop mouth pointies
@Graingy that's a good question, it's up for interpretation really. What do you think?
Is Jacob a predator or a prey animal?
@rexzion on god
me seeing the part count in my build go up after i add more parts
playing blender for 76 hours
@xiaofootball completely agree with all you said, and i can relate 100%
I remember not liking how the cockpit looks on my increasingly complex looking build and soon realized that in order to adjust it, I have to change about 20 to 30+ corresponding parts to make that particular section look uniform and nice. This is not counting the number of reconnections and overload trickeries that have to be done. In contrast, my simpler builds only took 1 or 2 adjustments for immediate results. Like you've said, it's just not fun and tedious to make complex planes, especially when it is a custom design without a blueprint.
.
Also, the damage model on simple builds are superior to a finely modeled 1000 parts build. A plane with a missing wing shouldn't fly like it still has 2 fully intact wings.
True. Also complex build are usually very boring to fly. I want to fly something funny or unique, not the 30th 4000 part fighter jet today that does absolutely nothing new.

@belugasub Help me, one upvote and it’s not even published.
@belugasub I have spent like 2500 hours on this game as a whole and yeah it's basically just a waste but it's a fun waste
@belugasub Why do my bad planes get so many upvotes? They aren’t even that good. Here, let me demonstrate.
@BeastHunter sometimes true lol, in my experience it's just whoever markets the best and whoever is established.
@belugasub No, I came too late in the community for that. However, I’ve found that you get more upvotes from simple builds, at least in my case. And this is very relatable, as I used to look at EVERY. SINGLE. PLANE. on the newest page and one day I upvoted them all on page one.
@SheriffHackdogMCPE i actually really love the new parts, it means you can build a lot more without having to make things yourself. Like back in the day to make cockpits you'd have to make every dial yourself. Now everyone can make a cockpit in no time at all it's awesome.
@BeastHunter a man from a more civilized age 🙏
i hope they keep the simple parts of the game so it could stay true to its name
I joined the community when the german corsair was very relevant and popular (and it still is today, at a much lower scale) also the comments were still up at that time (also there was much beef going on at that time bcuz of the quality of the build)
T. I clicked on it because I know the name belugasub.
@asteroidbook345 more like 2500+ hours for no reason
This is the home of 2500+ part trains we clown in this game better take yo sensitive ass back to Minecraft
I agree with you T
